Only a test to see if I can improve my realistic style...

They say not to use the dodge and burn tool but I used them to give more diffirent shades in the colours. This goes to show not to just accept what everyone says. Why not try it first? See how it goes.

Now, I apologize in advance if this is not a good Critique.
The artist, Eevora, has used many of her talented skills, to whip up this magnificent piece of work. This art piece, titled "Gah" may be just a practice piece, but it certainly looks nothing like one.
The colors have blended magically, and the fur on the Eevee turned out really well.
The only thing for future improvements, would probably blend the eye in a little more, as it looks a bit.. Ahem.. "Cartoonish" if that is the right word. The scarf confused e little too, as I wasn't sure if it was part of the fur in this picture, and I thought it was part of the fur.
But still the art is very well done, and I really like it.

Now, I apologize ahead of time if this critique seems a bit harsh or blunt, but I want to help you improve so I'm going to be honest here.

Okay, first off is that one of the main reasons people say not to shade with the dodge and burn tool is because it often makes the shading of your artwork a bit bland. Shading with different colors with varying saturation and value is more effective than the dodge and burn tool and will really help a picture stand out and also add more emotion to a piece. I can show you examples and tutorials if you want me to go more into detail about the shading.

Overall, the fur is nice. However, the Eevee is blurry, and it would stand out more if you defined the edges a bit better. By this I don't mean you need to draw an outline, but adding some individual, clear strands of fur around the outside of the Eevee would help.

While the fur is somewhat realistic, the eye, mouth and nose have a cartoon/anime look to them. The eye and mouth almost look as if they are floating atop of the fur, rather than actually being a part of the eevee.

On to the background, it looks like you scribbled a whole bunch. I'm sure you're capable of putting more thought or effort into the background.

Like I mentioned above, I'm not trying to be mean. I just want to help.
